A few great tips for those with oily, combination and/or acne-prone skin:
- Washing your face twice a day is an absolute must to remove dirt, oil, pollutants, and makeup. If your skin is very oily, you may also benefit from a light midday cleansing.
- Change pillowcases nightly, if possible. Pillowcases harbor bacteria and collect sweat and body oils which can aggravate breakouts.
- Use unscented laundry detergents. The perfumes and dyes can cause irritation.
- Avoid using fabric softening sheets. They contain machine-grade oil that disperses in the dryer, and can be highly irritating to acne-prone skin, especially on towels and bedding.
- Never scrub your face. Scrubbing can irritate skin and exacerbate breakouts.
- Clean your cosmetic brushes and sponges weekly to rid them of the oils, dirt and bacteria. A tiny dab of our Grapefruit Foaming Face Wash works quite nicely!
- Avoid touching your face. Your hands contain dirt, sebum and bacteria, and touching your face can spread these factors and cause pores to become inflamed and irritated. Always wash your hands before applying anything to your face, such as treatment crèmes or makeup.
